Heavy Wirework Necklaces

About this design:

I made the copper & bronze zebra jasper bracelet a while back but had nothing to go with it. So I made the necklace. I made the blue tiger eye & bronze from a picture I have of a jewelry artist that is no longer with us—Zoraida Bros. Of course I modified the design to make it my own.

Listed above. That’s all I used! I will patina the copper soon.

I remember Zoraida and her exceptional jewelry. Her artistry was superb.

You made quite a number of spirals and I must compliment you on their consistency. I’ve done spirals and making them look like they all belong together is a chore. But you did it! Both of your design are fantastic as is your wire work. Question: What gauge wire were you working with?

Wowzer! Both of the necklaces are stunning. Your wire work is spectacular!

Thanks! I used 14 gauge for the swirls, 16g (or maybe 18 because I had to fit the 4mm beads) for the hook & eye on the blue tiger eye & 18g for the bead links. I’ve learned to cut all my wire the same length when making the same pieces & also mark my round nose pliers to make consistent loops. I frequently consult my fav books on wire wrapping for what gauges, lengths & techniques to use. I’ve practiced a bunch & thrown out lots of copper wire!

Beautiful wireworking. Such beautiful swirls. And I love the latte colored beads in your 2nd set. Just gorgeous.

Outstanding wirework! I love your bead choices & designs. Thanks for sharing the extra info in your last comment–it can be a challenge learning this new technique & what gauge of wire to use. I especially like the clasp you made for the zebra jasper necklace. It’s not just a simple closure, but as beautiful as the rest of the elements in the piece. Great work Moogie!
