Oh my goodness!

About this design:

Hi y’all- it’s been a long time ( last fall) since I’ve done any beading. It’s true: if you don’t use your skills you’ll lose them. I’m making a quilt, so my bead room is a quilting room and need I say more? So I got this Apple Watch when I upgraded my phone and I’ve been looking at all the beautiful beaded watch bands thinking “ I can make that”. I used what I could find in my bead room. It’s so crooked!

Components:

White leather cord, C Lon thread, some turquoise beads, seed beads, navy beads( they have all the gold dust in them- can’t remember the name) a button and wax cord. I’m going to have to break down and buy a saddle color round leather cord. I don’t like the blue c Lon . Any ideas?

My idea is– come back to beading, we miss you! Nice watch band. I have never made one. A friend made me one, but then the battery died, so it sits. Maybe add a few beads to your quilt and post it here? Anyway, good to have you back.

We have missed you! It’s very pretty. Match your thread color to your leather color. I would bead all the way down to your knotting.

I love how you used the Buffalo nickel coin!I came across a lot of them on Amazon of all places!Haven’t had the courage to attempt making a watch and yet. I’ll just sit back and admire yours for now.

Nice to see your post Robin–this is so clever! The Turquoise & Buffalo button are perfect together. I kinda like the turquoise C-Lon cord against the white leather. My only suggestion would be noted in the third picture–to hide the knots of the waxed cord, you can pull them underneath the knotting itself with a technique similar to that used for whipping knots, rather than have them exposed. This is a great idea to dress up any watch. Glad your back! :)

Robin, I love that you decided to make your own watch band. I have also seen those lovely beaded bands but I have not been bold enough to try. I think I like blue against the white. You did a wonderful job putting this together!!

Such a wonderful contrast. The high tech apple watch with the turquoise and the buffalo button. Great idea and so much fun. Welcome back!

Thanks ladies.. I ordered round leather cord from LB and can’t wait to try it. My question for y’all is what to use for the thread? wax cord? geez.. that means I have to go a scavenger hunt to find where I put it. I’m answering my own question. I am also going to try a seed bead band maybe with leather at the end. 11/0′s will go around the watch connectors. And then there’s my quilt! The above feeble attempt went in the trash:)

Love it Robin. Watches should be fancy too. I’d wear a watch if I had one this pretty.
