Elephant Refresh

About this design:

Hey!!! Long time, no post from me. I've just been busy with the new kittens/cats. They all decided to get sick at the same time so multiple vet visits and many prescriptions. Also working on reducing the clutter in my house. It's ridiculous!!!
Anyway, remember the Elephant pendant I found in the Walmart $1 bin? Well I needed to redo that necklace because it had some issues, I just couldnt take it apart. It stayed in a box for awhile and then last week I finally broke down and did it. I thought I had some of those Tibetan agates in a light color but apparently I didn't. So I searched through everything and found these carved openwork soapstone beads and used those. I really like the redo. Hope you do as well.

Look at me writing a short story as per usual.

Last photo is the original design. Those triangular blue stones just never would lay right when it was worn.

PSS: That's the flipping reflection of my head in the pendant. Hahaha!!

Components:

Resin Elephant pendant. Carved soapstone beads, natural brass rounds, mookaite sticks, pinkish/brown lavastone, seed beads, metal coin beads, lobster clasp.

This is beautiful! The lava stone and carved soapstone beads go so well together and really complement the pendant. Welcome back!

The colors in the “do-over” work much better with the pendant. Love all of the different textures in the beads and the way they look with the smooth and shiny pendant.

Now about those kittens… Are they a specific breed or the domestic short or long hair variety? I love cats and kittens but don’t have any right now. This is the first time in 78+ years I haven’t had cat. My last one was a black and white tuxedo named Gomez. He was named for Gomez Adams of the Adams Family.

    Thank you Althea and LRC.

Love that you went right to the important stuff LRC, KITTENS!!
So these are just domestic short hair. I feed several semi-feral cats in my back yard and haven’t managed to get an appt. at the low cost clinic yet. So the 3 females all had babies. And not wanting that situation to get out of control the babies all came inside.

Here are 3 of them when they were babies. 1)Maddie Cat
    2)Bootsey
    3)MiMi
Maddie Cat and Bootsey are 1 year old now. MiMi is about 10 months.
They are several more but you can only add 3 photos to a comment.

We have had 2 different cats suddenly appeared. We have had an orange striped cat owned by a family at the end of the block. She is so friendly. Recently a gray striped one appearing pregnant showed up. She is so friendly. In the past week ,a black and white small one appeared. She looks like a wild mustang.

Your necklace is beautiful, Deb! It looks a high-end piece from a she-she store.

Your chair runneth over with cats! The little calico is a cutie. I love calicos. Had one named Rosebud and as she got older she got fatter. By the time we had to put her down her name had morphed from Rosebud to Rosepudge to Pudge. :D

Yea Maddie Cat is just a gorgeous girl. Her name is Maddie because her left eye markings make her look mad as he**.

No idea what happened with my comments up there. So weird.

Love the redo. Very ethnic vibe and I love elephants too. I’m allergic to cats, but love them – wish I could have some.

Deb, this is an outstanding redo with the addition of the carved soap stone & brown lava rock. The new beads really pull the essence of the elephant focal into focus. I love it! I can’t believe you found the pendant in the dollar bin! Nice photos of the new kittens, which by now have probably grown tremendously. Those sweet little faces can’t help but melt your heart!

Love your elephant refresh. You chose the perfect beads to go with the pendant. And your kitties. So beautiful. I also have 2 calicos – one female and one male without a tail (It was broken when we found him and it fell off.) He needed a little surgery to fix it up. He’s a real snugglebug.
