A Nugget of wisdom

About this design:

This one I made a while ago, I love this simple but bold bracelet. This was made of a few different types of gemstone nuggets ( most of them being diff colors of Agate) that I got at different places. The charm on the end says "balance" and the clasp says "create" little reminders of what I love and what I need to do more!

Rose Quartz, Agate,

I hope you continue to post your designs because they serve as inspiration for other beaders. I really like how you used the message charms!!

    KPJEWELS says:

Well, I happen to like it. I don’t always use identical beads in a piece either. Its what you like that counts.

  6. Chicky Chicky Blueroze
    Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:

Inspired2create: What matters if that YOU like it and enjoy wearing it. I think its great and a great way to make use of beads you like.

I like it. You could wear that with all of those colors…brown, white, blue, gray, peach. It would go with it all.

Inspired2Create — Re: the above negative comment. Everyone has different opinions about jewelry designs, but I feel the Gallery is here for us to share and support one another, not to be critical of each other’s efforts. I have many bracelets where the beads “don’t match at all” because they’re not supposed to — just like your design. Enjoy and nurture your creative spirit and please continue to share with us!!! :D

  12. Crystal Jewels
    Crystal Jewels says:

Inspired2Create – Again re: the negative comment above……….if we all didn’t have different and diverse ideas, the world and it’s people would be pretty boring~!! Please continue to use your imagination to create truly UNIQUE pieces and share them with us.

  13. Mommykat Bubbly Chick
    Mommykat Bubbly Chick says:

One of my favorite things about making Jewelry is that if you give 5 different people the same beads, you will get to see 5 different creations!!!!!!!! If someone doesn’t like what you have made, well then thats on them, not you! If you work to the best of your ability, and please yourself, that is what’s important!
I think this is adorable for using lonely beads!

  14. Chicky Chicky Blueroze
    Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:

Ladies, just want to say BRAVO. As another Chickie who just inboxed me about that said, “We Chickies need to stick together”. We need to give encouragement to each other and not tear down someones self esteem just because we might not like something they made.

Actually I’m still fuming about this. I need to cool down.

  15. No Photo
    Debbi aka Sparkle Chick says:

I’m with you Chicky Chicky Blueroze…I have been pretty upset about the negative comment for about an hour. I believe this is a place for encouragement and the lifting up of one another.
I can’t recall ever seeing a negative comment on this site.

  16. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

LOL I just came back here after chatting with another Chick about how we need to stick together and “circle the wagons”! Glad to see so many others have been here to show their support, too! :D Obviously, this has been weighing on all of us…..

  17. Chicky Bear-Tara
    Chicky Bear-Tara says:

My mother always said…”If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”. I think that is a good thing to do and applies in this instance. I do believe that everyone has their own opinion and has the right to express it, but on this site, where everyone is creative, and does their own thing…we should not be critical. If we don’t like it, we should just keep our mouths shut!

  18. Chicky Chicky Blueroze
    Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:

Yes, Debbie I agree with you also. My opinion is if someone is not happy with things here then this website is not the place for them to be.
I can see if the comment had been made as constructive criticism but it wasnt. It was mean and spiteful.

  19. Chicky Bear-Tara
    Chicky Bear-Tara says:

Inspired2create…I hope the negative remark does not keep you from posting your designs or picks. You go girl….

  20. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

I agree, Rozanne, there was nothing beneficial in that comment. This isn’t the place for those kind of remarks.

Tara, I was raised with that same advice and I still think of it today before I say something that might hurt someone.

  21. Chicky Chicky Blueroze
    Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:

I am so glad we are in support of being encourageing and uplifting here. I think we have a very nice group here and I sincerely hope that Inspired2create will continue to to create and post her designs.

Now if this other person does not like what we have to say, please feel free to inbox me because I’m more than ready to go around about this.
There’s another old saying, “treat others as you would like to be treated”.

  22. Chicky Chicky Blueroze
    Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:

I do know that I’ve been so angry about this that I just want to cry.

  23. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

You know that Inspired2Create will come back on here and see how many comments there are and think “Holy Cow! This must be the best bracelet I’ve ever made!” ROTFLOL That was meant to make you smile and/or laugh, Inspired2Create!!! :D

  24. Chicky Chicky Blueroze
    Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:

    Lynn, I laughed. :)

  25. Chicky Bear-Tara
    Chicky Bear-Tara says:

I made me laugh Lynn! I was angry about it too! I just didn’t express it. Just wonder how many others this has been done to?

  26. Chicky Bear-Tara
    Chicky Bear-Tara says:

I meant It made me…not I made me.

  27. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

GOOD!!! :D Obviously, this has touched a nerve with all of us, most likely because none of us can imagine saying something like that to someone, whether we know them personally or not.

  28. Chicky Bear-Tara
    Chicky Bear-Tara says:

Maybe Madeline T is mad because we didn’t comment on any of her picks????

  29. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

It would be especially bad if you were new to this site and had never posted a design before and then got a comment like that. It could really shake your confidence, even if you didn’t want to let it.

  30. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

Tara, I noticed that, too. She hasn’t posted any designs, so who is she to criticize someone else’s?

  31. Chicky Bear-Tara
    Chicky Bear-Tara says:

    I know!

  32. Chicky Chicky Blueroze
    Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:

Tara, I had thought that as well when I looked at her picks.
This whole incident shows me what a wonderful group of ladies we have here that we will not let someone be bullied for their ideas and designs.

I don’t like the idea of picking on Madeline T either, but what was said was uncalled for and I’m glad we didnt let this go.
I also wonder how many others that mean comments have been made and no one knew about it.

  33. Violet
    Violet says:

I just got back on line and saw this. I too am annoyed that someone would make a negative comment. I’m with Tara, if you don’t like something, then don’t comment, just move on…. This should be a site of encouragement. Constructive criticism is one thing but negativity is in a completely different ballpark.
Inspired2Create, I love this bracelet. It has character and individuality, and I like that in a piece. I also will take random stones and create a unique piece. I have also found that customers like them as well. As Tara and Debbi have said, it can go with so many outfits.
I love it!! Contine to create what’s in your heart and what you enjoy.

One more thing… If Madeline T has any character at all, she will issue an apology.

  36. Chicky Chicky Blueroze
    Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:

Violet, I so agree with you. Character goes a long way in how others will perceive someone else.

  37. Chicky Chicky Blueroze
    Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:

Hmmm, you know in looking at Madeline T’s picks, I’m beginning to wonder how old she is. A child might make a comment like this.

    Classy Chick JbyJill says:

You know…. I showed the comment to my sister as soon as it was posted and I have to say we were shocked!! I instantly looked up the profile and came to the same conclusion!! It would be typical….

  39. Chicky Chicky Blueroze
    Chicky Chicky Blueroze says:

Jill, if this is a child then this is not the place for her to be with that kind of comment. Very high schoolish and this is so not high school. She could definitely take some lessons from Little Chick who always shows such kindness and class.

    Valentine Chick says:

Inspired2Create~ Love the title of your piece and love your sentiments about your reminders! I think all of us Chicks have created picks or jewelry b/c we have been inspired by something in our lives. I’m glad you chose your “lonely” precious stones to put together, b/c now they are not lonely!!! You go Chick! BTW would you like a Chick name??? We can come up with a really awesome one…like Inspired Chick, Creative Chick…or whatever you want. Let us know!!!

All hail the “Chickies”!!! I think we chickies have accepted absolutely everyone who wants to be a part of the Pickin’ Chickin’ Club and Pickers Anonymous. That said…Please only post positive comments! I was also taught, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, say nothing!” How can you possibly not find something to say about every pick, every chick, and every creation on this site?!?:)

  42. Valentine Chick
    Valentine Chick says:

OOps! In my comment I meant to say How can you possibly not find something POSITIVE to say about every pick, every chick, and every creation on this site?!? :) Sorry!

  43. Inspired2Create
    Inspired2Create says:

LOL You guys are awesome really what nice things to say, well most everyone :-D .. I would also say that we all have different tastes and ideas and that is what makes the world and the art/craft of jewelry making so great.. How boring would it be if we all did the same type of thing all the time??
I will not let a negative comment/ different point of view get me down as she has the right to her opinion. Sometimes it’s just polite to keep those differing opinions to yourself though.
Though FYI the beads were not supposed to “Match” I think that they go together well though.. I do matchy matchy” sometimes but not always sometimes you just have to let the inspiration be your guide..

I LOVE though how supportive everyone is about this and sorry that you guys got stressed out about it.. Just Breathe!

Oh yeah , Sure I would love a Chickie name :-D

    Thanks Again!

Chicks, you’ve all pretty much voiced my opinion.
So I will just reiterate, If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.
    Chicks UNITE!!

Your name you should love, but just another comment…Inspired Chick…you certainly have inspired all of us to stick together and care about each other…it would be a fine name for you…but whatever you choose will be an honorable one! Keep caring about those “lonely” beads and create pieces that make you happy!!!!

    Little Round Chick says:

I was totally shocked when I read that negative comment. I read it twice just to make sure I had read it correctly. There are so many other ways to offer constructive criticism that doing so in such a heavy handed manner is inexcusable. Frankly if I see a piece of work I don’t particularly care for and am required to comment on it I look for what is good not what is bad. I taught painting classes for many years, mostly to children between the ages of 7 to 12 years, and I would NEVER say ” I don’t Like…..” It is not only hurtful it is harmful.

Inspired2create…Just think of that comment as sour grapes…very sour grapes. Put it behind you and “do your thing!” Power to the Chicks!

WOW. Couldn’t believe what I read a few comments into this thread. I haven’t read all the replies that it generated, but would like to add that there are people out there that are called “trolls” on the internet. They find a site and post inflammatory comments to see the reaction they get. Judging from the lack of a reply, or supporting argument for their position, this may be just such a “person”. If so, it’s like a crank call – I would just ignore it & deny them their jollies.

Inspired2Create, I’d like to add my support to the rest! I have not commented on very many of the fabulous designs featured here in the Gallery, mostly from lack of time. BUT, I love the bracelet & the concept behind it! I have many “one of a kind” stones from the beads I have, that are just too pretty to let go. I have created a couple “mismatched” pieces that are fun to wear – and go with anything – and would like to make more!

Keep it up, and do not let the trolls get you down!

Inspired2Create, one bit of advice that I learned the hard way…

I had a bracelet that probably would have broken because I didn’t have enough play between my beads. It was one that had smaller, but flat-ended stones & spacers strung together, without any rounds or saucers to let it flex. I un-strung it because it had really stretched the 49 strand cord I use, and found that all the “joints” where it WAS able to bend were extremely worn! I have since been very careful to have places where the wire can bend in more of a “u” shape than a sharp angle. I’m thinking a small round bead or saucer might help this be more durable – especially if you wear it often. Or if you don’t like that look, just be sure to check it fairly often for signs of wear. :) Lori

I’ve not been able to get on and stay on for a while, my Chickies – nothing’s wrong, just trying to get stuff done! I am so hurt for you, Inspired2Create – my heart just sank when I read the unkind words directed at you, and HERE of all places! Couldn’t help but think of all the beaders who might have hesitated to present their creations for fear of disapproval and then someone actually says something so out of line and mean-spirited! I hope the support shown for you and your soooo pretty bracelet proves that we ARE a tight community of beaders, artists and friends who have eachother’s backs – ALWAYS!!!! :)
There are no hard and fast rules to beading! Do what makes your own eyes happy – like everyone has said so eloquently! I like to call all my multi-color/stone bracelets ‘treasure bracelets’ – that’s what they are to me…and that’s what yours is ,too! Keep up the good work and keep sharing – we need eachother’s inspiration and support!! BTW: I like Inspiration or Inspired Chick!! :)

  66. Shannon aka Silly Chick

I had the same problem with a turquoise nugget necklace. Luckily it snapped before it sold. I’m going to restring it with 19 strand wire and put little spacers between the nuggets.

I came across this the other night while travelling and am just getting around to adding my 2 cents in. I just have to say that I am so proud to be part of such a wonderful, supportive group. We are always there for each other, whether it is with private messages or this public forum.

I love the bracelet, especially because the each bead has a special meaning for inspiredtocreate.
ps- I like “inspired chick” It retains her original identity while becoming part of our wonderful group. :)
