A great new ability I haave picked up. I really wanat to make more pieces, however at $25.00 per 10 gram package it cna be a costly adventure. It was a real learning experience. I held my breath with the mermaid piece and the investment was 30 grams of PMC.

They look like great pieces, I just wish I could see the detail. If I may make a suggestion? It looks like you either need to try your macro setting on your camera (usually a flower symbol), or back up just a little and zoom in as close as you can in focus, then just crop the photo down on your computer (you could even do that in Paint). My camera can’t focus on anything closer than about 8 inches, and it actually has to be further away than that if I’m using my macro lens (longer lens than the normal size).

Thank-you Sonja, Stormy, Moonbell, Martha and amkcreations! I think the mermaid picture came out better. I wish you girls could see the lillypads and waterlillies! I will try the Macro Moonbelle! I have already tried to use the distance part of the camera. I may have to get the manual out……

I was sure scared to put the piece in the liver treatment. It was this yellowish brownish stuff that helps bring out the detail. I was praying for blue, green or aqua for the mermaid! I got kinda a peacock color I think. There are blue and red on the other piece. It does bring out the detail the liver treatment but it doesn’t seem like you have any control over what color it turns. At least if you don’t likeit you can fire it off and try again.

This looks like it must be really beautiful, even though it’s hard to see detail. I would love to learn how to do this kind of thing, but it is pretty expensive from what I can tell…an idea for another day! :D

Yes Deb! The class was 70.00 and that included 10 grams of Clay. ($25 a 10 gram pkg) It was enough to make the lady&bird pendant. The mermaid took 30 grams. I can’t do that often! Thanks for you nice comment!

I have read that if you add a drop or two of ammonia to the Liver of Sulfer solution, it gives a more violet to blue; treat for a short time, rinse and eyeball to see if you’ve developed enough patina. If not dark enough, treat again.

This is nice; looking fwd to seeing future work.

Thank-you Edka Mouse for the tip! I will have to try that the next time and ask my teacher if she knows anything about ammonia. Once I decide how to use this mermaid I will post the finished designs. It will be a while before I do PMC again.

Thank-you Mahala. I found the mold and decided I wanted to try this in silver. The class allowed me to try something new and it was fun!
