Purple Quartz Squiggle Bracelet

About this design:

I made this for myself as purple is my favourite colour. I'm rather fond of squiggles too!
For some reason it was really hard to photograph ~ the purple hasn't really come out that well as its a bit richer in "real life". I ended up taking the photo outside on top of the water butt muttering under my breath as it's very windy today & the bracelet kept moving!

Purple Kiwi Quartz beads, 18g & 20g Sterling Silver wire, Sterling Silver round beads

This is gorgeous! Love that the clasp is one of the squiggles. I can imagine the beautiful shade of purple. Don’t you just hate it when the camera doesn’t cooperate with the color?

And I must ask because I can’t imagine I’m the only one on this side of the pond that doesn’t know what a “water butt” is?

Oh, this is so pretty! It makes me think of modern art, which I guess it really is. Love it! :)

Jeanne, the answer to your question is “yes” — ROTFLOL — you are the only person in the whole world who does not know what a “water butt” is. I find myself shocked because you seem so wordly, so sophisticated, so, so, well — worldly. ;-)

Oh, and BTW, I don’t know what one is, either. LOL

I had to smile when you said you didn’t know what a water butt was Gem Chick & Lynn! It’s a plastic barrel connected to the drainpipe to collect rainwater. What do you call them in America? Just remembered~ butt is another word for bottom over there isn’t it?! ;)

LOL Yes, it is, Spiral Chick! OK, in America we call the thing you described a rain barrel. :D See how educational this site is!!! ROTFLOL

I could put something on one of the forums about making spirals but then that might make me seem big headed! ( I’m not I’ve just practised a lot!)
If I do it will be next week sometime as unfortunately I have to work this weekend ~ boo, less time to spend on here!

Thank you Bella Chick & Crazy Chick! I can’t imagine what you must have thought when you read about my water butt!
Bella Chick ~ I live in East Sussex, on the south coast of England about 1 min from the beach & it’s a beautiful hot sunny day today :)
Crazy Chick ~ the earrings in my profile pic are purple glass squares. They were lovely beads but it’s really hard to find anymore like them anywhere

“I ended up taking the photo outside on top of the water, butt (type -o?)muttering under my breath…..

I thought, took the photo on top of the water? How’d she get that thing to float? That’s just not possible! But she said it was moving in the wind soooo…. Does she have it on some sort of clear plastic that floats? HEHEHEHE!!! ;-) :-D
    I’m giggling as I type this :-D :-D !!!

How cool would it be to be able to make things float on water & take photos of them whilst wiggling my watery butt in the wind! :)

What a beautiful bracelet. I didn’t know what a water butt was either. I guess if it was an American bottom (butt), in the UK it would be a water bum….right?

Cool piece! Nice wirwwork!! how did you attach the swirls to the beads?
All this talk of “water butt” made me think of the time when I was little and, on a dare, I sat in a big bucket that had been outside in the storm and collected rain water and I got all wet and soggy! lol

Thanks Kitty Chicky Cat :) I stuck the spirals on with glue! I’ve never thought of sticking things onto beads before but I thought the beads could do with something extra.
Yes, my “water butt” definitely caused amusement :)

On your wirework, how do you keep the flattening down the same. I am just starting with the wire works and if I don’t smash a finger the my pliers get in the way. Love your stuff very unique!

I just read this entire blog and am laughing out loud!!!! Great read! I was confused by the water butt too, but kept reading knowing that my Chick Friends would teach me something new tonight! What an education I got. This wirework is fantastic. I’m considering purchasing a WigJig to start with wire work myself! Beautiful designs Spiral Chick!

Clarith, sorry for the delay in replying to your question (time difference living in the UK!)
I make the shapes first then flatten them with a chasing hammer on a bench block keeping fingers & pliers well out of the way! :)
