To Bead Or Not To Bead?

About this design:

When I was designing this in my head, I thought I would add a beaded fringe to the scarf. Now that it's together, my personal inclination is to leave it as is, but I have a very simple fashion sense (maybe even backward and old-fashioned). What are your thoughts... should I add the fringe and make it extraordinary or leave it like it is? I've had votes of both ways from family.

I would leave it alone. I might perhaps try to used a Horse pendant/charm to use to help hold the scarf in place to be used as a scarf clip. It is busy and plain is fine. What about if you got some large chain and threaded the scarf thru the links of the chain? You could still see the pattern and add bling at the same time. Message me if you don’t follow me!

I love it the way it is, but where were you thinking to add (beading) to the ends or to the edge.. I could go so many ways.

I think the scarf is perfect as is — I’m not a “fringe” person, so that idea doesn’t appeal to me. :D

I like this scarf a lot and I think it’s wonderful that you are “upcycling”! It looks great the way it is, but I personally vote for the beads! ;)

What a great idea. It is a lovely pattern and beads, fringe or as is, it is striking.

IMHO, it would depend on whether you were planning to use primarily for day or evening. Or, you could compromise by making some fringy (is that a real word – if not it should be) earrings to wear with it – I could see earrings in coraling technique make with #11 black seed beads (perhaps charolottes or tris or hexes)and tipped in jet or black diamond crystals. The look is substantial, but they are light as can be on the ears. Coraling technique is really easy – I would be happy to teach you how to do it. I saw it done at a bead society meeting and sat right down an whipped out a couple of pair of them. :) KH :)

I would leave it alone. It is a busy pattern and I don’t see what the beads would add to it. Sometimes to many things going on at once, only takes away from the piece. I think it’s beautiful like it is.

Thank you for your opinions, I think I’ll just leave it as it is (it’s my first scarf and I may just keep it), and look for some crinkly material that’s a little plainer that fringe won’t overwhelm. :)

The fabric in this is really lovely, and my personal thought is that anything more would just create a chaotic look that would take away from the beauty of it. Great job for a first! :D
