Fancy Flip Flops

About this design:

My niece and I were too hot in Santa Fe for Bead Fest, so we bought some flip flops, but you can't wear plain flip flops to Bead Fest, now can you? We had a fun girls' night and beaded them. I am going to wrap the part that goes in between the toes in brown felt (I only had crochet cotton with me at the hotel). Also, going to put brown felt on the bottom of the straps to make them more comfortable.

flip flops, glass butterflies, silver-lined seed beads, silver glass pearl, angelite tubes, braided fishing line

@ Mary S, I don’t think they’d take too long. Neither of us had done this before, so we were working on the technique as we went, plus watching movies. It took me 2 hours or so for this first pair, but I think it would be shorter on subsequent ones.

These are adorable and fun…they would be perfect for a casual summer wedding! A friend of mine wore flip flops for her wedding, but they weren’t near as nice as these! :D

Moonbell, these are cute. I have made these for several years now with fuzzy crochet yarn (I sell them as Phun Flops), but have never thought of including beads. Way to go! Once you get used to it, you can whip out a pair in about 45 mins. I started doing these for wedding parties for the reception…really phancy with feathers, pearls, & crystals. The young ladies really liked them.
