Freeform Peyote Bracelet

About this design:

Here are two freeform peyote stitch bracelets, in two of my favorite colors - purple and teal. I love freeform beadweaving - it's fun to see how each piece develops. Its a great way to use up odds and ends, too.

Various seed beads and Czech glass beads, Freshwater pearls, crystals and crystal sew-ons, a silver button, a Swarovski Rivoli button, and a pale lilac Ghost Cow lampwork disk bead.

Thanks for the comments – as soon as this egg hunt is over, I’ll have to make another of this kind of bracelet. Any ideas on colors?

This is gorgeous! Love your colors! I don’t get along well with stitching – I have a freeform 1/2 done that has been sitting around forever waiting to be done!

Color idea: Mix your two favorites! It would feel very ‘peacock’ or ‘butterfly’.

I am so envious of anyone who tackles freeform anything. I just can’t do it; not enough structure for me. LOL! But I DO love seeing it. Very nicely done.

I love this & am a beginner. What type Peyote Stitch do you use? Could I do this just using even count? Thanks for sharing. Cathy

Thanks for the comments. Mostly, I just use regular even-count peyote stitch, but I start out lengthwise instead of the way you normally would for a bracelet. Just using different sizes/shapes of beads creates the texture. Sometimes I have to modify the peyote stitch to fill in open spaces, or to create little “bridges”, but since it’s freeform, there’s no right or wrong way to do it. So beginners shouldn’t be afraid to try – give it a shot, Cathleen F!
