About this item

When we purchased this stone, we were told it was "pink and yellow jade from Taiwan." The density and hardness are what we'd expect from a nephrite jade and the color appears to be natural. That said, we would not be 100% surprised to find out that this is actually a jasper or serpentine, as these two stones are often sold in the US market as types of jade. We can be 100% sure about one thing: this is a beautiful stone.

More about Jade

Jade beads can be pleasing hues including lighter tones of creamy white and light mint. They also come in darker shades of sage and can be as dark as dried tea leaves. Prized in Asian cultures for thousands of years, Jades are actually found in many different regions of the world.

Jade is actually a catch-all term for two seperate stones - jadeite and nephrite. Jades are formed in metamorphic rocks. They are composed of fine-grained crystal structures. The distinctive green color of jade is actually caused by impurities of chromium.

Metaphysically, jades are said to evoke prosperity and good luck.
