This gemstone has a lustrous, metallic brown and black woodgrain pattern. Hypersthene is also known as a Ferroan Enstatite.

Hypersthene is a variety of a silicate mineral called enstatite that contains iron and magnesium. It can be found on every continent. The name of this mineral comes from Greek for “over strength,” due to its hardness in comparison to similar stone hornblende.
