The Adinkra symbol Aya, or “Fern”, is a symbol of endurance and resourcefulness. Adinkra symbols or ideographs were created to represent concepts by the Ashanti people. These symbols can be found across Ghana on fabric, building details, tattoo art, jewelry, household objects, and furniture to name a few. Made using the traditional lost-wax casting method — a technique commonly used by artists in Africa and around the world. Because of this process, every piece is unique, with slight variations in design and size.
