The Adinkra symbol Aya, or “Fern”, is a symbol of endurance and resourcefulness. Adinkra symbols or ideographs were created to represent concepts by the Ashanti people. These symbols can be found across Ghana on fabric, building details, tattoo art, jewelry, household objects, and furniture to name a few. Each of these brass focals are cast using the traditional lost-wax casting method. This is a technique widely used in bead making in Africa and by artists around the world. By casting this way each piece is original, so please expect to see slight variations in design and size.
