Hemimorphite gemstone beads are unlikely to be cut into round beads or other styles with radial symmetry. Hemimorphite has a unique characteristic of forming in pyramidal structures - flat, larger surfaces on one side of the crystal narrow to a point at the other end. This is such a unique characteristic that the stone was named for it! The Greek word “hemi” means half, while the word “morph” means shape. Our Hemimorphite beads are a gorgeous, icy blue color sure to work for a myriad of designs!
Hemimorphite is often found in zinc and lead ores, frequently with look-a-like stone smithsonite. It is a sorosilicate mineral and one of the components of calamine (yes, like the lotion!). Hemimorphite can be found all over the world.
Hemimorphite is said to help with spiritual growth and facilitate peace and calm.
