More about Turritella Agate
The gorgeous whorls and spirals in Turritella agate are the fossilized remains of freshwater snails that lived millions of years ago! Turritella agate is actually a misnomer, because the fossils within the stone are called Elimina tenera, and were never of the Turritella family. Our Turritella agate gemstone beads are a beautiful blend of dark neutral colors and crazy patterns. The understated black, brown, and cream tones are a lovely compliment to the wild, whirling spiral pattern created by the fossilized shells.
Turritella agate is sourced from the Green River Formation in Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. Like other agates, Turritella Agate is a variety of Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family.
Metaphysically, Turritella Agate is said to facilitate connection to the past.
