I love Kylie's "Birds on a Wire" Pendant, they look so sweet watching the sunset. I wanted to incorporate the colors of the sunset into the cord, which is where the silk ribbons came into play. I then randomly knotted several snippets of blue leather to represent the birds flying off into the fading sun.

Supplies you’ll need:

  • 1 Kylie Parry Ceramic Birds On a Wire Pendant 35x23mm
  • 2' Echinacea Hand Dyed 100% Silk Ribbon 7/16"
  • 2' Golden Maple Hand Dyed 100% Silk Ribbon 7/16"
  • 17" Natural Brown Woven Leather Cord 4mm
  • 6 2" lengths of Blue Deertan Lace Leather 3/16"
  • 4 Beach Stone Pebbles
  • 7 Vintaj Natural Brass Etched Jump Ring 9.5mm - 15 gauge
  • 1 Antique Copper (plated) Hammered Simple Hook & Eye Clasp 32x12mm
  • 2 Antique Copper (plated) Crimp Cord End 4mm

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Take the 2 ribbons, starting at one end of leather cord, tie a knot. Then continue to twist around leather cord and knot until you reach the other end of the necklace.

Step 2

Attach the pendant to the necklace by stringing a 6" length of both ribbons through each hole going over the top of the pendant. Then loop the ribbon over the necklace, back down and under the ribbons that are going over the pendant. Secure with a knot.

Step 3

Create a Beach Stone Pebble chain trickle next to the pendant by looping a jumpring through a pebble. Then attach to another jumpring with another pebble an so on until you are out of pebbles. Secure the last jumpring to the necklace, right next to the pendant.

Step 4

To create the "birds" flying away, randomly knot blue lace leather onto the necklace.
