Our Thunder Egg Agate gemstone beads are for all the rockhounds out there! Thunder Eggs are a fascinating egg-shaped stone that forms after lava flows. When cut in half, they resemble geodes and can be polished to dazzling effect. Thunder Eggs are the official state rock of Oregon.

Thunder Eggs are formed from volcanic activity. Roughly spherical in shape, they formed from rhyolitic lava and silica deposits. Thunder Eggs can contain rhyolite, agate, chalcedony, jasper, opal, and other crystal growths. Our beads contain many of these components, not just agate. They are an amazing mix of earthy reds and oranges, alongside translucent crystal and dark banding.
