Square Knot Keychain

This keychain is made with a simple square knot and your favorite cord.

Supplies you’ll need:

Leather Cord
Large hole beads
Keyring
Super glue

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Fold two 3.5' pieces of cord and attach to a keyring- so there are 4 pieces of cord hanging down. When you fold & attach the cord, make sure that the two innermost pieces of cord are half the length of the outermost pieces of cord.

Step 2

Tape or clip down the two shorter center pieces of cord. I also clipped down the top of the keyring to a clipboard to hold it in place.
Take the left outer string and cross it over the two center strings and under the right outer string. This will create a loop in the shape of a number 4.

Step 3

Take the right outer string and bring it behind the two center strings, and then up & through the loop of the 4.

Step 4

Pull both outer strings tight up against the previous knots.

Step 5

Repeat steps 2-4, but this time start from the right side. Now you have one square knot. Repeat steps 2-4, switching from left to right each time.

Step 6

You can add beads at any point. Choose a large hole bead and slide it onto the two center strings. Continue tying square knots below the bead.

Step 7

When your keychain is your desired length, take all 4 pieces of cord & tie a knot. Slide a bead onto the very end of the pieces of cord and place a drop of glue beneath the beads to hold them in place.
