Sari Silk Macramé Plant Hanger

This week I wanted to do something a bit different, so I thought these plant hangers would be a nice change of pace. I've really only seen these made with jute or macramé cord, so I thought I'd try switching it up with sari silk. I love how they turned out, and they're a great way to add a splash of color to your home!

Supplies you’ll need:

Sari Silk in assorted colors (you'll need nine 8' pieces)
Scissors
Potted Plants

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Begin with nine 8' pieces of Sari Silk. I chose to work with 2 different colors- green & ruby. You can use other material as well- in the step-by-step photos I used hemp to demonstrate to make it easier to follow along.

Step 2

Gather all nine pieces and fold them in half. Tie a piece of string or sari silk in the middle. Now you'll have eighteen 4' pieces. Hang the sari from a wall (I just used a tack- it's easier to work with when it's hanging up)

Step 3

Separate the 18 pieces into three sections with six strings each.

Step 4

Braid each section to a length of 14" and tie a knot at the end of each braid.

Step 5

Move about 6" down from the knot you just made at the end of the braid. Separate the bottom of the braid in half - you'll have three pieces on each side. Join one braid to the next one over by tying three from each braid (six total) with a knot (moving in a circular fashion). Repeat until all three braids are connected.
