A wall hanging is a great way to showcase these gemstone nuggets. I used quartz & different colors of hemp for the macrame. You can also add tassels, strands of crystals & gemstones, shells, or anything else you can think of to make a unique decoration for your home!

Supplies you’ll need:

  • Large Stick
  • Gemstone Nuggets
  • Various Colors of Hemp
  • Tassels
  • Rock Crystal Points
  • Gemstone Pendants
  • Ceramic Rondelles

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Begin by making the macrame pouches.
Cut four 4-5' pieces of the Chinese knotting cord. Tie all four strands together in the center with an overhand knot. Divide the strings into pairs of two- so you'll have four pairs of 2 strings. In each pair, tie the two strings together.

Step 2

On the right side, separate the pairs into individual strands. Tie the center two together. Also on the left side, divide the strands so you have 4 individual strands. Tie each strand to the one next to it. Follow the arrows in the picture.

Step 3

Continue tying each strand to the one next to it until you have a pouch large enough for your gemstone.

Step 4

Place the gemstone into the pouch & tie a double knot on the top. Slide on a large hole rondelle and tie another knot.

Step 5

You'll want to make two pouches holding 1 stone each, two holding 2 stones, and one holding 3 stones. To make the pouches holding multiple stones, just repeat steps 1-3, except split the strands into the four groups of 2 from the knot you tied above the rondelle in step 4.

Step 6

Using jump rings or wire, hang tassels & smaller gemstone pendants from the bottom of the pouches. To finish, tie the remaining string from the pouches into a knot around the branch & trim the excess. I put a dot of glue on the knot to make sure it's secure. To hang the branch, tie two strands of the natural hemp around the ends of the branch.
