Camping at the Lake Bracelet

About this design:

Working with just rocks is really fun. It amazes me that you can find these colors lying along the shore of a lake in Idaho. I mixed all the colors and sizes together to create this flowing bracelet, strung it on leather cord and finished with the ever-so-creative Green Girl Studios Nesting Bird Toggle.

What you’ll need: (buy products below)

  • 2 jump rings
  • 1 Green Girl Studios Nesting Bird Toggle
  • 1' Natural Light Brown Round Leather Cord 2mm
  • 4" Hand Dyed Silk Ribbon 7/16"
  • 44 beach stones - combination of charms and pebbles

Additional Images:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1:
As you string the stones onto the leather, make sure to place a few knots throughout the bracelet. This will keep the stones in place and add some visual interest to the bracelet allowing people to see the leather component.
Step 2:
After everything had been strung and crimped, I tied the ribbon through the loop on crimp cord end on the ring side of the bracelet. I then strung 4 beach stone pebbles and tied it off, creating a collage charm of the stones.

Ali, this bracelet is so lovely — casual, yet it would work well with a “dressy-casual” outfit, too! Love the knots between the groupings of the stones — great idea! :D

Love this!! Thank you so much for being so willing to share your designs — what a wonderful site this is. I’m only beginning to take advantage of everything it has to offer – it makes trying to become self-taught much more fun and a little less daunting. Thanks for the inspiration! And by the way, love the rocks!!!!!!

Hi, I have a question about the clasp. I made a bracelet with this clasp but it doesn’t stay closed. It seems to me that the “pull” on the two halves of the clasp is backwards. I tried to devise a way to make the bracelet with the pull the other way but failed. I really like it but I can’t wear it securely. Does yours stay tightly closed? And what could I do to make it work?

Very nice design. I own this wonderful clasp (love Green Girl!), but I ‘m trying to take into account ALL the important questions asked in this comment section. Does Lima Beads ever answer them??

    Feather says:

What size holes did you drill In the stones, with what and how did you smooth the drilled holes?

    DONNAADELE S says:

Seems there is a very popular unanswered question, which is mine also: how did you drill holes into the pebbles?

  34. Moogie

I now know if you have a question about an older design posted by Ali, it’s best to contact customer service. I doubt anyone checks the comments of the older designs.

    Mary - Sweet Chick says:

There was a time when LB sold pre-drilled beach stones. I believe this design used those components.
However, if anyone can point us to a tutorial & list of proper tools on drilling stones, I’d love to know how as well. :-)
