Rustic Peace Cuff
by Ali on 11/10/11
About this design:
I was really looking forward to using the alcohol inks on a cuff. Here's what I ended up with.
What you’ll need: (buy products below)
- Alcohol Inks – rust, terra cotta, slate, gold metallic mixative, silver metallic mixative
- Acrylic paint dabber – pebble
- Alcohol Ink Pen with pitch black ink
- Brass cuff
- 4.5’ of leather lacing
- 2 peace sign charms
- 3 designer Czech glass squares
- 3 headpins
- Hole punch – EuroPower Punch works best for the cuff, since the metal is so thick

Gayla G says:Wow. Will you please make a video showing how you used all the paints and fixatives, etc to get the dappled look? There is just no way I’d be able to do this otherwise.
And, if you do, maybe you could do it in a different color scheme, perhaps tidepool?
Thanks for considering this.

M Bowers says:This is a great look with many possibilities! Once it is finished is the color fixed? Will it not come off on to skin, clothes, etc or does it have to be sealed with something?
On Dec 01, 2011 at 11:57 pm #
Ali says:Thanks for all your nice comments.
@M Bowers
Alcohol Inks are permanent, however, when used on metal where skin and skin oils will be in contact with the color it is recommended to use a sealer. I always use a sealer and have been incredibly happy with the Claudine Hellmuth multi-medium sealers we carry – http://www.limabeads.com/Sealers-C5667
