Fiber Tendrils Lily Earrings

About this design:

I love making coils and then messing up their perfect shape. I feel like it better represents what we see in nature. The colorful WoolyWire makes these really fun and flirty.

What you’ll need: (buy products below)

  • 2 caps or petals
  • 2 5" lengths of WoolyWire
  • 2 leverback earwires
  • bail making pliers
  • adhesive
  • round nose pliers

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1:
String 1.5" of the 5" of WoolyWire through the top of the lily.
Step 2:
Create a wire wrapped loop at the top of the lily.
Step 3:
Begin coiling the WoolyWire to form the tendril. Start at the end with the larger side of your bail making pliers creating 3-4 coils. Then going in the same direction switch to using the smaller side of the bail making pliers forming 3 coils and finishing off the coils using your round nose pliers. Make sure to coil right up into the lily.
Step 4:
Use your pliers or finger nails to begin pulling the coils apart, making the coil a little less perfect.
Step 5:
Once you are done manipulating your coils from both earrings, you should see similarities, but it is best if they aren't identical.

Ali, These are fantastic! Whimsical fun with a little bit of silver to dress them up. I would like to see a third one as a pendant for a simple necklace.

They are so so cute. I just have a question. Is the wooly wire tickly or itchy. It looks tickly. It also looks extremely cool and fun….endless design possibilities.

These are so pretty! If you are allergic to wool, will this wire bother you?

  6. Ali
    Ali says:

The WoolyWire is actually a really soft texture so it feels really nice.

Regarding allergies, I’m not sure. I would say that it probably depends how sensitive your allergy is, but it is made of wool.
