Wooly Hoops

I started out wanting to wrap the Tagua hoops completely with cord and beads, but it seemed too bulky and didn't allow for me to see the hoop. Then it hit me, add some cool color and structure at the top using Wooly Wire. The combination of the 2 materials are a perfect fit - the natural feel of the Tagua nut with the softness of the Wooly Wire.

Supplies you’ll need:

  • 2 1' lengths of Wooly Wire
  • pair of ear wires
  • 2 4mm round beads complementing the colors in the Wooly Wire chosen
  • 2 Tagua nut gypsy hoops
  • adhesive
  • cutters
  • round nose pliers

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

String a 4mm bead onto each ear wire. You may have to "unbend" the ear wire a bit and reshape once the bead is all the way on.

Step 2

Cut 2 1" lengths of Wooly Wire. Take one of your lengths and fold over about 2" from the end. Hook your Wooly Wire onto the Tagua nut hoop at the top and begin wrapping. Wrap the Wooly Wire about 10 times, overlapping the ends back to the center. Make sure to leave 1/2" on the short end to wrap around the other wire.

Step 3

Create a "messy" wire wrapped loop and attach to ear wire.

Step 4

Make sure to apply adhesive to the ends of the Wooly Wire to keep it from fraying.

Step 5

Once you add the adhesive, wrap the end down. Done!
