Nouveau Necklace

About this design:

This Art Nouveau focal is reminiscent of the beautiful paintings and stain glass art of the period featuring mossy greens, bronzy metallics, iris blues, and lavenders.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1:
Collect all of your chosen seed beads and begin stringing beads onto the 4-ply Irish waxed linen. I like to string from the middle of the necklace out. Use a random pattern to mix up the colors and textures of the beads.
TIP: I like to tie a knot in the waxed linen every so often while stringing the beads to keep the necklace strand from becoming too taut.
Step 2:
Once you have strung one side of the necklace, you should string the pendant, pulling beads through the back loop of the pendant. Then string beads on the other side of the necklace
  Step 3:
TIP: String your inside necklace 3" shorter that your outside necklace, this will allow that strand to nest nicely within the other strand.
Step 4:
Now that all of the stringing is complete, attach the button to one end and a loop on the the other end.

This is wonderful! I can truly say that I was about ready to get rid of all my seed beads until I saw this. Now I think I’ll keep them and find a purposeful life for them ;) The colors of the necklace are wonderful and the perfect compliment to the focal.

I really love this particular focal–it’s just really unique. And I happen to be playing with some fringe & other beads right now. This design inspires me to one of my own focals in a similar way. What is the total length of your necklace? I’m a little unsure where the focal should “land”! I try not to have it fall between the nummies (code word used for nursing!!).

Thanks for your nice comments. I just love these colors together!
The total length I made the necklace is approx 24″ strung. This does not include the length of the pendant.

Wow, do I ever LOVE this design! I love the pendant and particularly love the pairing with a combination of magatama beads (my favorites!) and regular seed beads. The “movement” is lyrical and the design is timeless! The colors are rustic and dreamy and I, like others, always appreciate seeing your amazing creations and stellar photos, to showcase various angles. I am so glad Lima beads offers many magatama colors and a nice variety of Zola elements!!

Love your use of a variety of pretty seedbeads! I bought this pendant awhile back, haven’t used it yet, but I see it has great potential. I plan on filling the open space, as I can’t let an open hole go unfilled!

What diameter leather cord can I use instead of a beadede strand?
