Using wood beads in a design allows you to go bigger without making an uncomfortably heavy piece. This necklace feels nice around your neck and isn't heavy like stone or glass would be. Using a 12-ply Irish waxed linen gave me the ability to add knots for a pop of color, plus it offered an easy solution for attaching to a thick chain. I chose to stay on trend and use a large gold chain around the back of the design which I think gives a very polished look. If you want more color or different arrangement check out our other wood beads!

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Lay out your necklace, keeping in mind where you want the wood beads to lay around your neck.

Step 2

String the wood beads onto a 12-ply Irish waxed linen. You could also use a 1.5mm-2mm leather cord.

Step 3

Knot randomly. You might have to tie your knot over itself a couple times, the holes in the beads a pretty large.

Step 4

Once you have all your beads strung take 10-12" of a large cable chain and tie the waxed linen to it rather than using a jump ring to attach. I prefer the warmer tone of a gold chain to be used with the wood. I have 12" of wood beads strung and 12" of chain, so I don't need a clasp as it just slips over my head. If you go shorter on the chain, you would need to add a clasp.
