Rain Curtain Sun Catchers

About this design:

The kids and I love to decorate our garden, especially the tree in the center. It gets the most attention. Why should it only be adorned at Christmas? We have embellished it with everything from curtains of crystal and chandelier glass, agate slices w/ recycled glass, strips of sari ribbon tied onto branches, rock crystal pendants, and more... You should check out this book: The Woodcutter and The Most Beautiful Tree by Robb Johnston, a wonderful story full of inspiration for young and old.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1:
The most important step for this project is making sure you have the best supplies to use and of course a tree or window to hang these from 😊. I try to keep these supplies on hand - crystal, a variety of rock crystal beads and pendants, beach glass, agate slices, natural hemp, strong wire gauge (18+) … Get creative with your combinations and sparkle on!

How exciting for your children! They are beautiful. I may need to try some on three octogon windows in my staircase.

Oh I love suncatchers! I made a few over the past several months. I love the ones y’all made. I always end up getting too complicated. These are just right. So glad you shared these.

First of all, Ali, your tree and garden are beautiful, and even more so with these wonderful sun catchers. So very pretty. I need to make some of these. We do have a few trees, not all cactus. in Arizona. Thanks for sharing your design. Just love it, but I love all of your designs. You are so talented!

How beautiful! I have several stained glass windows in my 1895 house, but I never thought of decorating the trees. Thanks for the inspiration; thanks also from the trees!

These are quite pretty, but the directions are basically non-existent. There certainly isn’t step-by-step Directions.

I make sun catchers as well. I also make jewelry, bookmarks, key chains, etc., and I know that there are many steps missing, as well as materials and techniques. (Knot tying, crimping beads…) I suggest to people I speak to that they read many beading books and visit Pinterest to better understand the beading process. There are on-line classes to take as w well.
