Day of the Dead Necklace
by AndreaP at Lima on 09/19/19
About this design:
I wanted to create a "Calavera" a day of the dead decoration that is used to honor a loved one who has passed. This is an eye-catching seasonal piece to wear.
What you’ll need: (buy products below)
You will need Czech glass bellflowers, daisies, and any other beads 9mm and smaller. You will also need head pins, jump rings, one skull focal, round nose pliers, and your favorite chain. Oh yeah, I added a few little thread tassels to soften the look. You can use the left over beads for other projects. I did post a smaller version of the skull if you would like to wear something less bulky and some other chain options.
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Slide a head pin through a flower and create a loop with your pliers and wrap the wire around the base of the loop neatly and trim. See Tip: Make a Wire Wrapped Bead Link |
![]() |
Step 2: Do the same as step 1 on all the flowers you pick. Then I used a jump ring and added two or three flowers on at a time to create clusters. |

Step 3: Then I attached the clusters to the loop on the skull. |

Step 4: Use a larger jump ring to attach the skull to the chain. |

dolllady aka Pam says:I love the flower beads on top of the skull and the colorful bead chain to go with it. Definitely looks like So. Texas sugar skulls!

Little Round Chick says:Lets hear it for the sugar skulls! They are popular in southern California, too. Excellent Halloween accessory. Should be worn with a long black dress and black gloves.
