Mystic Falls Necklace

About this design:

This week I was really excited to design with these new seed beads- the colors are all so vibrant! For this design, I used headpins to create an ombré focal piece. I thought the deep purple looked great with the greens, so I paired it with an aquamarine nugget to create a unique (and easy to make!) layered necklace.

What you’ll need: (buy products below)

  • Gold or Silver Arc Focal (1)
  • Gold or Silver Headpins
  • Gold or Silver Chain (2')
  • Czech Glass Gold Spacers
  • Beading Wire
  • Aquamarine (or a similar color) Nugget
  • Jump Rings
  • 24 Gauge Wire
  • Super Glue
  • Seed Beads
  • Crimp Tubes

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1:
Make 5 bead charms with the seed beads & headpins. Slide the beads on in the order shown in the picture.
Step 2:
Attach the charms to the gold arc focal with the jump rings. Place a small drop of glue on each jump ring so they don't move around. Attach the chain to the arc focal with jump rings. Move about 2 inches up the chain & cut it. Make a bead link with a 2" piece of wire and attach it directly to the chain. Slide on 2 light green seed beads, a gold seed bead, and 2 more light green beads. Loop the wire to the other piece of chain to connect them back together.
Step 3:
To make the focal for the seed bead necklace, slide a gold spacer, an aquamarine (or similar color) nugget and another spacer onto a headpin & make a bead charm. On beading wire, slide on the seed beads & the focal in the center.
Step 4:
To break up the purple, every few inches I slid on 2 cream, 2 mint, 1 gold, 2 mint, and 2 more cream seed beads.

Wow Elaina- those are some beautiful Tohos. I love your design -partly symmetrical and partly asymmetrical. I love the way you used the arc focal to make a waterfall – so creative. and the daisy spacers are a great accent to the stone.

I love this necklace so much that I had to buy the Zola focal. I know that the two young girls next door will love these.

Thanks for the idea using that Zola focal. I was stumped on how it could be used in a design. The cascading effect of the seed pins attached to the bar portion is brilliant. Nice job!

Lovely! Where can I purchase the focal you use? I don’t see it in the Zola list of focals.

Can you provide the part # for the gold focal and why isn’t it listed?
