Frozen Tundra Necklace
by Elaina W on 11/25/20
About this design:
I was really excited to design with these new hand-woven focal links- I love the color combos & they remind me of snowflakes, making it the perfect accessory for this time of year! I paired the focals with seed beads & delicate gold chain to create a multi-layered necklace.
What you’ll need: (buy products below)
- Hand Woven Focal Links
- Gold Chain
- Beading Wire
- Crimp Tubes
- Crimp Covers
- 11/0 Seed Beads (gold, blue, & orange)
- 8/0 Seed Beads (blue)
- Gold Chain
- Lobster Clasp
- Gold Jump Rings
- Gold Headpins
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Begin with a piece of beading wire about 4.5-5" long and two pieces of chain each 6" long. Slide the end of the beading wire through the bottom loop of the chain and down through a crimp tube. Clamp down on the crimp tube with pliers. Cover the tube with a crimp cover. |

Step 2: Slide on 3 seed beads (2 gold, 1 blue) and then slide on one end of a 3.5" piece of chain. Make 4 bead charms with the blue 8/0 seed beads & headpins. Slide the seed beads, bead charms, and the woven focals (attached with jump rings) onto the beading wire in the order shown in the picture. Once you've almost gotten to the end of the wire, slide on the other end of the piece of chain, and then 3 more seed beads. Slide the end of the beading wire through the bottom loop of the chain and down through a crimp tube. Clamp down on the crimp tube with pliers. Cover the tube with a crimp cover. Make bead charms with the 11/0 orange & blue seed beads & attach them to the chain w/ jump rings. See Tip: Make a Wire Wrapped Bead Link |

Step 3: Using a jump ring, attach a 1.5" piece of chain to the two outermost woven focals. Attach a 1" piece of chain to the center focal. Attach them together by sliding the ends of each piece onto a jump ring. On that same jump ring, attach a .75" piece of chain. Using a headpin, make a bead link with the blue & gold 11/0 seed beads. Attach the link directly to the bottom of the center chain. Make more bead charms with the orange & blue seed beads & attach to the pieces of chain with jump rings. Finish by attaching a lobster clasp & jump ring to the ends of the chain. See Tip: Make a Wire Wrapped Bead Link |

Granny Nancy says:Absolutely gorgeous. I could never make anything like that but someday I hope to have the right materials and have someone make one for me.
Happy Thanksgiving.
