Bohemian Love Necklace

About this design:

I think earthy natural cords accentuate the beauty of the Porcelain and African saucer large hole beads. This is a cool, short necklace that looks amazing worn on its own or layered with your other favorite necklaces.

What you’ll need: (buy products below)

You will need: *1' Brown leather cord (I added a few products to pick from) *5 African Saucer Beads *7x8-9mm Porcelain Beads *2 Greek Antique gold beads *Natural Hemp *2 Crimp ends *2 Jump rings *1 Clasp

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1:
Don't cut your cord, I like to have extra to create my knots. String the beads onto the cord in the order shown. Create a loop with your cord and use the loop to create an overhand knot. You can add a touch of glue for added security. Trim off the excess cord. Do the same on the other side.
Step 2:
Next, I cut 4 pieces of hemp for each side of the necklace. My pieces were about 1' long, I like to have extra. Feed the hemp through your leather loop and over. Take three strands and wrap them around the hemp and back down through each other to create a clean knot. Braid the hemp strands together.
  Step 3:
Bundle the ends together tightly and fit them into the crimp bead and crimp down. Cut off any extra hemp sticking out. You can use a touch of glue in the crimp end for extra security. Attach your jump rings and clasp.

Does Lima Beads carry a vegan leather cord similar to the one used in this project? A silk cord maybe.
I love this bracelet. Love the colors and the boho styling

Hi Delia. We carry silk string and vegan 3mm microsuede, either would be a fantastic replacement for the leather.

Andrea, this is fantastic!! Lovin’ the natural vibe & braiding. I just purchased a bunch of leather & cording during the last sale, and quickly printed off your instructions the minute I saw this. Can’t wait to give this a try! :)

Love this! This may be a silly question but I feel like I am missing something when I read the instructions. If I have 4 pieces of hemp per side, am I putting all 4 through the loop so they are essentially folded in half? Why only 3 strands wrapping around to make the knot? Thanks!

Hi BarbK, You are pulling all four strands of hemp through the loop. I think I just did three because I liked how neat it looked, but you could do four. I am thrilled you liked this design. Thanks for asking.
