To create this Mala-style necklace, I used gemstones representing the 7 Chakras: root (red jasper), sacral (tiger eye), solar plexus (yellow calcite), heart (green aventurine), throat (Sodalite), third eye (lapis), and crown (amethyst & rock crystal). In place of the guru bead found in a typical Mala necklace, I used a Czech Glass flower of life coin & a thread tassel. The finished necklace ends up being pretty long, so I suggest wearing it doubled up.
Cut a 10' piece of the Chinese knotting cord. Tie an overhand knot in the middle. String the beads on one side (with a knot in between each bead) in the following order: 6 crystal, 6 amethyst, 1 lava rock, 7 lapis, 1 lava rock, 7 sodalite, 1 lava rock, 7 green aventurine, 1 lava rock, 7 tiger eye, 1 lava rock, 7 yellow calcite, 1 lava rock, 7 red jasper. Repeat on the other side. Use a jump ring to attach the lotus charm anywhere you'd like.
To make the tassel focal, I slid the silver top off of a black thread tassel. Next, thread the string at the top of the tassel through a needle & slide on a 6mm gold round bead & a coconut rondelle.
Continue by sliding on a Czech Glass flower of life coin, and another coconut rondelle & gold round.
Tie a loop at the top & secure with a drop of glue. Tie the ends of the necklace through the loop.
To secure the tassel, tie a piece of black Chinese knotting cord around the top a few times. Tie a knot at the end & secure with a drop of glue.
