Frosted Birch Necklace
by Elaina W on 11/24/21
About this design:
I love using seed beads to make bead chain, so I was super excited when we got in this new shipment of seed beads! One of my favorite parts of the design process is choosing a color palette, and I love the earth tones in this mix. For this necklace, I used wire to make a focal, and added a rock crystal point to add some more interest.
What you’ll need: (buy products below)
Seed beads (8/0), gold chain, gold wire (22 & 24 gauge), rock crystal point, leather cord, cord ends, jump rings, lobster clasp, super glue, gold headpins
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Begin with a piece of wire. Slide on 6 blue 8/0 seed beads, the rock crystal charm, and 6 more seed beads (to make the rock crystal charm, follow the attached tip for wire wrapping a bail onto a teardrop). Bend the wire to form a teardrop shape and make a loop at the top using round-nose pliers. See Tip: Wire Wrap a Bail on a Teardrop |

Step 2: Use the seed beads & wire to make the bead links. I made two 6 inch sections of bead chain. Attach each end of the bead chain to the top of the wire teardrop. Use the 3mm jump rings to attach a small piece of chain about 1.5-2" up the necklace. Make 6 bead charms with the seed beads & headpins. Attach to the chain with 3mm jump rings. See Tip: Make a Wire Wrapped Bead Link See Tip: Wire Wrap a Charm |

Step 3: Slide the end of a piece of leather cord (your desired length) through the loop of the top bead link about 1/4". Wrap wire around the two pieces of cord to secure. Repeat on the other side of the necklace. |

Step 4: Attach the cord ends to the ends of the leather cord. Attach a jump ring & lobster clasp to the ends. |
