Ocean Treasures Necklace
by Andrea at Lima on 03/10/22
About this design:
I wanted to create a beachy layered style with mother of pearl chain. The shimmering blue hues and the iridescence of the mother pearl make these chain styles a must-have for summer. You could make matching bracelets, earrings, or anklets to go with this necklace. Bonus, the chain has stainless steel links so it will be very durable.
What you’ll need: (buy products below)
You will need 18"- 20"- 24" lengths of mother of pearl chain, 1 mother of pearl feather shell pendant, 1 woven seed bead ring, 1 Greek patina starfish, shell, luahaunus shells, 1 tiny tassel, pearls, 6/0 seed beads, 1 large and 1 medium textured jump rings, 1 head pin, (4) 6mm & (2)8mm smooth jump rings, 3-1 link, and clasp.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Cut the chain to your desired lengths. I did 18" - 20" - 24" lengths. Attached all of your components with jump rings as shown. I used a head pin to create a charm with the seed bead and pearl. Loop the end of the head pin around the woven ring to attach, then loop the excess wire around. See the tip below for help. You could also attach your charm with a jump ring instead. See Tip: Wire Wrap a Charm |
Step 2: Attach the ends of your chain to the 1-3 links with jump rings. Then finish off the design by adding your clasp. |

Crystal Canary says:Beautiful way to showcase all the beautiful treasures of the sea. Love the layers with the new MOP chain. I’m trying to figure out how dainty the chain is with beads sized at less than 2mm. A lovely feminine & delicate piece.

Andrea at Lima says:Hi Crystal Canary! The bead size is 2x3mm and the stainless steel links are 1.75×1.25mm. You can use up to 21 gauge jump rings with this chain.

Crystal Canary says:Oh wow, thanks so much for the clarification! I was reading the chain description and thought that the beads must be micro size!
