Sea Lotus Necklace & Earring Set

About this design:

Deep ocean hues and beautifully patterned cloisonné beads make a bold statement in this alluring design. I am in love with the Tierracast lotus rectangle charm.

What you’ll need: (buy products below)

You will need:

  • 1 Cloisonné Blue & Sea Green w/ Gold Finish Flower Barrel Bead 13.5x12mm
  • Sodalite Faceted Round 3mm
  • Green Blue Hubei Turquoise (A - more blue) Round 4mm
  • Soft Flex Champagne .019" (Medium)Strand Wire
  • 2ft small paperclip chain
  • 2ft tiny paperclip chain
  • 2ft of stainless navy enamel chain
  • toggle clasp
  • jump rings
  • 2 crimp beads
  • 2 crimp covers
  • gold 24 gauge wire
  • 3 eye pins
  • 16 head pins
  • 4mm jump rings
  • 6mm jump rings

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1:
Slide a sodalite bead onto a head pin to create a bead charm, make 8 of these. Follow the tip below for help with making bead charms. String the beads on in the order shown onto 2ft of Soft Flex string wire.
Step 2:
Cut two 6.5" pieces of small paperclip chain. Slide the Soft Flex cord through the crimp tube then through the chain and back down. Use crimp plier to crimp the tube. Do this on both sides. Place your crimp cover over the crimped tubes and tighten woth pliers.
Step 3:
Create a bead link using 8 sodalite beads, 2 heishi beads and the lotus charm. Cut 2" of wire and slide the beads on in the order shown. Follow the tip below to make a bead link. Use jump rings to connect the link to two 6.75" pieces of enamel chain.
  Step 4:
Cut 13" of tiny paperclip chain and slide on the large hole barrel bead for the shortest layer.
Step 5:
Use small jump rings to attach the enamel chain to a larger jump ring. Slide the paperclip chains onto the large jump ring. Attach the large jump rings to the toggle clasp.
Step 6:
Earrings: Create a bead link by sliding the Cloisonné rondelles onto the eye pin and make a loop at the top with pliers. Trim the excess wire.Follow the tip below if you need help with this. Make 4 sodalite bead charms, 2 pearl charms, and 2 hubei turquoise charms. Slide them onto head pins and create a loop at the top. Use the small jump rings to attach the bead charms to your cloisonne bead link. Attach the bead link to your ear wires.

    Such beautiful, golden layers! The smaller beads & chain really show off the colorful Cloisonné beads. I like the technique of adding the little blue beads as fringe around the bottom strand. Lovely set!

    This is the most lovely set I’ve seen in a long time. I’d love to try to make at least one piece. I should copy the instruction page. This is one of those times when these blues and blue/green colors overshadow my love of purple.
