Desert Sun Necklace

Step 1

Cut five 4" piece of Linhasita cord. Create a knot at the end of each one. Slide the beads on in the order shown. Start by tying the longest piece to shortest onto the middle of the rattan focal. Check out the image for how to knot.

Step 2

Your beaded strands should be hanging in a graduated form.

Step 3

Cut a 7" piece of Linhasita cord and tie it on next to the shortest bead strand. Trim one end of the cord and us a lighter to burn the knot. Start wrapping the tail of cord around the rattan in between the bead strands to fill in any spaces. Knot the cord when finished and burn the knot with a lighter to seal the knot.

Step 4

Cut 29-30" of leather cord. Fold and feet the folded end through the rattan, pull the two leather cord tails through the folded cord. Take one tail and wrap it around the other and pull up through as shown.

Step 5

Tie on 6" of Linhasita cord just above the knot. Trim one end and leave a longer piece of cord to wrap. Wrap around the leather cord as much as you want and tie a knot. Use a lighter to burn and seal your knots. Slide one African brass rice bead on above the wrapped cord.

Step 6

To finish cut an 8" piece of Linhasita and tie it on over both of your leather cord tails. Follow the images below or click the tip for guidance on creating a sliding square knot. Make your knot as long as you like, knot it off and burn the knots to secure them. Tie knots on the end of your leather cord so they don't pull through the square knot.
