Desert Oasis Layered Necklace

These golden layers with textural shell emits a luxe beach style. The colorful shell heishi beads add an earthy pop of color and I love the capiz shell fringe!

Supplies you’ll need:

Western mix mussel shell heishis
2' of rollo chain
2' of paperclip chain
cowrie shells
trochus shell discs
jump rings 4mm & oval 8x6mm jump rings
snap on clasps
11 capiz shell 10mm coins
3' Chinese knotting cord 0.5mm
crimp tubes & covers
1 white arca shell

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

For the first layer, the arca shell necklace I cut 15.25" of chain. I used the 8mm jump ring to attach it to the chain. You could also use wire to make this shell a bead charm if you don't like the jump ring.

Step 2

For the capiz coin necklace I cut 17.5" of rollo chain. Find the center of the chain and use the 4mm jump rings to attach the capiz coins to the chain. I used 11 capiz coins.

Step 3

For the beaded layer I cut a 16" piece of Chinese knotting cord. Slide on the beads in the order shown. If you don't want to use a oval jump ring for the cowrie, you could use wire to make it a bead charm to slide on with the rest of the beads. The beaded part of this necklace is 13" long.

Step 4

I cut two 3.75" pieces of paperclip chain. Slide the cord through the crimp tube over the paperclip chain and back down. Use pliers to crimp the tube.
