Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Cut 30" of cord. I like to have extra cord to work with. This necklace is 18.5", not including the clasp. Melt the cord tip with a lighter, then quickly pull it into a thin, needle-like point. This allows you to string the beads easily. Watch the video above to learn how to do this.

Step

Step 2

Attach the oval spring ring to the end without the needle-like point. Image 1: Bring the cord through the clasp and back down to meet the other cord. Image 2: Grab the clasp and start to twist. Image 3: Twist the cord 6-7 times. Image 4: Bring the shorter piece up through the loop just under the clasp. Image 5 & 6: Pull tight. You can pull on both cord ends to tighten. Image 7: Trim the cord end and burn the end with a lighter to seal the knot.

Step

Step 3

Start stringing the beads on in the order shown.

Step

Step 4

Measure a 1" piece of chain. To remove the piece, use pliers to open the chain links. Make sure the chain link is closed tight. Feed the cord through the last chain link. Image 1: Create a barrel knot by wrapping the tail end to the left around your finger. Image 2: Wrap a second time. Image 3: Wrap halfway; the cord should end up at the top of your finger. Image 4: Slip the cord off your finger enough to feed the cord end through the loops. Image 5: Pull the cord to tighten the knot a little at a time, making sure your beads are pulled close. If you end up with a gap, you could create another knot. Trim the cord end and burn the end with a lighter to seal the knot.

Step 5

Create a bead charm by sliding the mother-of-pearl star bead onto a headpin. Create a loop at the top using pliers or a looper tool. Hang the star at the end of the chain using a jump ring. Attach the peach moonstone star to the center of the necklace using a jump ring.
