Beaded Hemp Tassel Earrings
by Ali on 01/22/15
About this design:
These earrings feel very beachy to me, like little bits of treasure that washed up on some sandy shore. This is the time of year, here in Michigan, that we all start thinking about going somewhere sunny and warm :)
What you’ll need: (buy products below)
- 2 - 12" lengths of hemp
- 2 - 12" lengths of dark hemp
- 14 - 7" lengths of hemp
- 2 - Czech glass large hole beads
- 2 - Vintaj large hole faceted round 8mm beads
- 2 - Vintaj large hole faceted round 9.5mm beads
- 14 - 6/0 seed beads
- 1 - pair of ear wires
- 1 - adhesive (hypo cement)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
![]() |
Step 1: Gather 7 of the 7" lengths of hemp and tie together in the middle using 1 of the 12" lengths of matching hemp. |
![]() |
Step 2: Make the tassel using the darker 12" length of hemp to wrap the tassel together. |
![]() |
Step 3: Using the 12" hemp length from Step 1, tie on the earwire to the top of the tassel. Trim off tails leaving 8-10mm. |
![]() |
Step 4: String beads onto the tassel, securing with overhand knots and a touch of adhesive. Tie additional overhand knots onto the strands that do not get strung with beads. |

pearlsandme aka Monica says:They must be miniature landing lines, or whatever those boat ropes are called… Lovely color combo, love those Czech beads. I could certainly use some sun, beach or no beach, so even AZ might work, CC!
