Follow the Sun Necklace
by Andreap at Lima on 05/12/22
About this design:
This necklace has tropical boho beach vibes. I love a layered necklace because can easily add to or takeaway from this design to give it a different look. For example you could add a strand of mother of pearl, add more gold chain layers, add more charms, or take away the chain layer, whew! You could also take the large focals off and wear this as a wrap bracelets, endless possibilities!
What you’ll need: (buy products below)
You will need a strand of African glass multi color seed bead mix, 1 African batiked flower tile, 1 green patina scallop bead, 1 xlarge Capiz shell focal, 1 tiger shell coin focal, chain, jump rings, clasp, and a head pin. I added a few varieties of shell patina beads for you to pick from in the buy products list.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: I left my strand of African seed beads strung the way it comes (tied strand), it fit around my neck twice easily beacuse it come in such a long strand. It is already tied tightly so I just had to add my focals on with jump rings. Use the larger brass jump ring for the Capiz and Tiger shell focal. |
Step 2: I used the head pins to create bead charms with the scallop bead and the batik flower bead. I slide a 4mm Czech glass bead on first before the batiked flower bead onto the head pin. Create a loop at the top with the excess wire. Do the same technique with the scallop bead. Follow the tip below to create your bead charms perfectly. See Tip: Wire Wrap a Charm |
Step 3: Cut the chain to your desired length. I had mine long enough to hang between the two layers of seed bead strands. Attcah your jump rings and clasp to finish this look. |

Crystal Canary says:I totally agree about the possibilities with layered necklace sets. You have a nice collection that will be perfect for the warmer weather & days at the beach. I like your idea of making one just the right length to be used as a wrap bracelet. You can never go wrong with boho styles.
