This stunning Renaissance fair-style necklace has shimmering swags of chain and mysteriously dark garnet to fit the theme. The necklace is 17" long, including the serpentine clasp. I did not include the center focal in the length.

Supplies you’ll need:

  • 6mm jump rings
  • 4mm oval jump rings
  • 3' ball link chain
  • 2' ring chain
  • cable chain
  • 6mm Garnet star coins
  • 4mm glass pearl rounds
  • lobster clasp
  • two 3-1 serpentine links
  • 1 medallion multi-ring chandelier focal link

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step

Step 1

Cut four pieces of silver bead chain. Two pieces need to measure 7.25" in length, and the other two pieces need to measure 6.75" in length. One of each length of chains can be connected to the chandelier focal using oval jump rings on the outermost ring. Do the same on the other side of the focal.

Step

Step 2

For the center of the chandelier's focal top ring, cut a 1.5" piece of ring chain. Connect this piece of chain using an oval jump ring. Cut one long piece of the ring chain measuring 12 1/4". Attach the center ring on the chain to the short piece of ring chain using an oval jump ring. You can now attach all of your chain ends to the serpentine 3-1 links using the oval jump rings.

Step

Step 3

Counting from where you attached the ring chain to the center ring chain piece, count up three rings. Use a wire-cutting tool to cut a piece out of the chain. Create a bead charm using a pearl bead. Slide the bead onto an eye pin. Create a loop on the opposite end using a looper tool or pliers. Use the oval jump ring to attach it to the chain. Do the same as above on the other side of the ring chain.

See Tip: Wire Wrap a Bead Link

Step

Step 4

Create 5 bead charms with the garnet coins and glass pearls. Slide the beads onto a head pin and create a loop at the top using a looper or pliers. Connect the charms to the bottom loops of the chandelier focal using the oval jump rings.

See Tip: Wire Wrap a Charm

Step

Step 5

To create the drops of chain coming off the ball chain, cut 4 pieces of chain. Two lengths should be 3/4", and the shorter two should be 1/2" long. Create pearl and garnet bead charms to hang from these chains. Make two extra garnet charms to hang throughout the necklace as shown.

Step

Step 6

Connect the pieces of chain about 1.5" from the chandelier loop. Do the same on the other side. At this point, I would try on the necklace again and see if you need to adjust any length.

Step 7

Hang the mini spike charms and the 2 extra garnet bead charms using the jump rings. See the main image for placement.

Step

Step 8

Attach the lobster clasp using the 6mm jump rings, and attach just a jump ring to the other side of the necklace end.
