I have weddings coming up, and I thought gemstone hair pins would look great with an updo and my dress.

Supplies you’ll need:

Bobby pins in long and short sizes
28 gauge wire
gemstone chips in kunzite and moonstone
graduating star tower
gold stars
jump rings
turquoise magnesite stars
super glue

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

The wire wrapping is the same for both gemstone bobby pins. Cut 1' of wire.

Image 1: Wrap the end of the wire around the bobby pin twice.
Image 2: Twist the wire together three times and trim off the short end of the wire.
Image 3-4: String on all of the beads in the order shown.
Image 5-6: Bring the wire around the last bead and start wrapping it around the bobby pin in between each bead.
Image 7: To finish, wrap the wire one more time around the end and create a loop. Feed the wire through the loop and pull tight. Trim off the extra cord.
Image 8: Finished look. Make sure to use pliers to flatten any pointed ends. You can add a dot of super glue to the cut wire if necessary.

You will use the same technique to make the kunzite. Just use the jump rings to add the star charms to the end of it.

Step 2

For the graduated star Bobby pin. Cut 1' of wire. Use a shorter bobby pin for this project. Wrap the wire on the end as shown in Step 1. Trim the wire. Add a dot of super glue onto the back of the last star to hold it in place. Wire-wrap the top of the star focal to the bobby pin. Add glue here as well.
